Shehu Dikko Honored with Star-Studded Novelty Match at Moshood Abiola Stadium
Friends of Shehu Dikko, including Super Eagles veterans and prominent personalities, gathered at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, for a novelty match in honor of Shehu Dikko’s appointment as the National Sports Commission Chairman. The event, themed *”Refocus, Relaunch, and Reset,”* showcased support for Dikko’s leadership vision in Nigerian sports.
The star-studded match featured Super Eagles legends like Mutiu Adepoju, Garba Lawal, Samson Siasia, Brown Ideye, and Victor Nosa Ikpeba, alongside the Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa. Adding prestige to the event was the presence of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General CG Musa, who also participated in the match.
Team Nigeria emerged victorious with a 2–0 win against Team Shehu Dikko, thrilling spectators in the main bowl of the stadium. Speaking after the match, ex-international Garba Lawal expressed full confidence in Dikko’s capacity to transform Nigerian sports, emphasizing that his appointment has the unanimous endorsement of the nation’s sporting community.
General CG Musa commended Shehu Dikko’s vision, stating that sports have historically served as a unifying activity to engage the youth and deter them from crime. He expressed optimism that Dikko would restore sports to its former glory.
Participants lauded the event as a symbolic endorsement of Shehu Dikko’s leadership and his ability to reposition Nigerian sports for a brighter future.
