BUHARI HAILS TINUBU AT MIDTERM, URGES PATIENCE, SUPPORT FOR REFORMS

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on reaching the midpoint of his first term in office, commending the administration’s efforts while urging Nigerians to remain supportive and patient with the pace of reform.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari described leadership as “a continuous journey,” stressing the need for unity and focus as the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government marks its second anniversary.

“Reforms take time. They cannot produce overnight miracles,” the former president said, calling on citizens and political actors alike not to allow crucial changes to be derailed by “nettlesome domestic politics.”

Buhari expressed his full support for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to combat inflation and reduce poverty, which he acknowledged have hit the country’s most vulnerable the hardest. However, he emphasized that these challenges require collective action beyond government alone.

“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and confident in the nation’s future. “Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy,” Buhari added in a tone both reflective and cautionary.

Concluding his message, the former president extended warm wishes to Tinubu: “I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care.”

The message comes amid nationwide evaluations of Tinubu’s performance in office as Nigerians assess the gains and challenges of the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
