Progressives Magazine is set to host the grand finale of its essay competition, “The Future of Nigeria: Vision 2060,” on December 5, 2024, at the Barcelona Hotel, Abuja. This educational initiative, launched in September, is designed to celebrate and inspire Nigerian students across various educational tiers, including tertiary institutions, senior secondary, and junior secondary schools.
The competition aims to honor students with exceptional academic abilities, patriotism, and a clear vision of Nigeria 100 years post-independence. Winners in each category will receive cash prizes of ₦500,000, ₦300,000, and ₦200,000, respectively, to recognize their intellectual efforts and aspirations for a prosperous Nigeria.
Beyond celebrating young minds, the event will also shine a spotlight on philanthropists who have significantly supported educational development in the country. Among the honorees are:
- Engr. Sunday Babalola of the Babalola and Bunmi Foundation, known for his commitment to empowering underserved communities through education.
- Dr. Fatima Zanna Gana of the Purple Hearts Foundation, recognized for her work in providing resources for disadvantaged students and Almajiri in Borno States.
