The executive Vice Chairman of the National Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalilu Halilu, commissioned the Portland CNG Conversion Center in Kado, Abuja. This landmark event is part of the ongoing efforts to support President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s energy transition agenda, particularly in the transportation sector.
The Portland CNG Conversion Center is a significant step in the drive to reduce dependency on traditional fossil fuels while promoting cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. By facilitating the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG), the center aims to contribute to environmental sustainability, economic efficiency, and energy security in Nigeria.
“In my capacity as the overseer of this commissioning, I am highlighting the importance of blending innovation with local expertise, a principle embodied in this new facility”. The center underscores NASENI’s commitment to leveraging technological advancements for national development.”
During the event, the Executive Vice Chairman emphasized the need for increased collaboration between NASENI and private-sector stakeholders. He noted that partnerships with the private sector are critical in driving technological innovation and industrial growth in Nigeria.
The EVC also took the opportunity to urge private-sector players to join hands with NASENI in advancing the nation’s technological and industrial aspirations. The successful establishment of the Portland CNG Conversion Center is a testament to what can be achieved through collaborative efforts and shared visions.
This center aligns with Nigeria’s energy transition strategy and serves as a model for similar projects that can transform the energy and transportation sectors. It represents another milestone in the journey toward achieving a cleaner, greener, and more innovative Nigeria.
